The Parliamentary Justice Select Committee has recently published three letters regarding the departure of Adam Samson from his post as Chief Legal Ombudsman. The letters tell the various sides of the affair. The Law Gazette last month published a story suggesting that Mr Sampson was ‘dismissed with notice’ in November 2014 after irregularities with his expenses claims. Mr Sampson denies that he was dismissed. A further more detailed commentary is published on the Legal Futures website.
It seems the Office of Legal Complaints (which oversees the Legal Ombudsman) is still in special measures as a result of this affair. A new Chief Ombudsman and Chief Executive have been appointed recently.
