Caroline Wayman puts in a smooth performance replying to some very gentle questions from Anthony Gould of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Most interesting to me was her comment that “quite a lot of” FOS Adjudicators and Ombudsmen are obtaining professional qualifications in Insurance and Financial Services whilst “at the ombudsman”. (15.33 minutes into the video). Hmmmmm….I wonder how many staff … and what qualifications ? Some FS qualifications take a lot of study and need to be kept up to date. I’m surprised they have the time. Perhaps FOS has decided to address the long standing criticism that FOS staff are not qualified in the matters they rule on. I notice that this statement now appears on the FOS careers page
