Conflicting stances from the Pensions Ombudsman and the Financial Ombudsman Service on self-invested personal pension liability has been branded “madness”, as the two bodies enter talks to hammer out an agreement on the issue. It seems a Judicial Review was mentioned and FOS decided to review its decision. All this has been dragging on since 2014.
The question of what circumstances permit the FOS to “review” a final decision seems to have come up. For normal mortals “the ombudsman’s decision is final”
