Has the SRA served its purpose ?

This is an interesting article about regulation of the legal professions, touching on the Solicitor’s Regulation Authority, Law Society, Legal Services Board, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal and the Legal Ombudsman, and their  relationships with the profession and with each other

These can be illustrated in my own case against a solicitors firm where at one stage I had a letter from the SRA saying the LeO would be a better place to complain, and a letter from the LeO saying I should complain to the SRA !

I got nowhere with my case when the Ombudsman made a factual error in his decision, I complained that this showed bias, but the LeO has no procedures for making a complaint against bias or unfairness by one of its Ombudsmen.

“Having carefully considered your request, I am satisfied that the Legal Ombudsman does not hold either internally or externally published guidance, policy or procedures advising staff in relation to allegations that an Ombudsman has shown bias or acted unfairly.”
